As a former gymnast and soccer player, I am personally all too familiar with injuries that sidelined me from my sports. Needing several surgeries and months away from my beloved sports, I was motivated by those experiences to help other young athletes in similar situations. A Los Angeles native, Andrew Weiss, M.D. graduated from the Harvard School and then left Southern California to attend college and play soccer at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in the Biological Basis of Behavior, Dr. Weiss returned to Los Angeles and taught high school biology and algebra. He has written many articles on laser surgery and the MRI evaluation of articular cartilage and has lectured extensively on the evaluation and management of sports-related injuries. As an avid runner, competing in both marathons and triathlons, he has firsthand knowledge of the physical and mental challenges athletes face.
