Sun poisoning is a layman's term for the symptoms that can accompany a bad sunburn - nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, headache and, in general, feeling pretty sick.

Your skin may be become red, itchy, bumpy, swollen, or blistered. In some cases, you may even feel sick in general, with nausea, fever, and chills. Sun poisoning is essentially a severe sunburn that may be accompanied by systemic symptoms. If you develop sun poisoning, you want to address the condition right away.

When all that body heat hits the white clothing covering it, it gets reflected right back towards the body. The best color to keep cool in the heat, it turns out, is to wear black. Black absorbs everything coming in from the sun, sure. But black also absorbs energy from the body instead of reflecting it back.

While some might casually refer to a bad sunburn as sun poisoning, they are not the same thing. Sun poisoning, or polymorphic light eruption, is an allergic reaction to the sun that causes an itchy, red & bumpy rash.

 Synthetic fabrics like nylon and polyester do a good job of blocking UV. Bleached cotton is a poor barrier material.

A rash can develop within six hours of sun exposure, and it may last for up to three days depending on the severity of your burn. Apply a cool compress and aloe vera gel to help soothe the skin and make your rash go away faster.
