ABOUT DR. DONITZA Avi Donitza, DMD, is a highly trained and experienced prosthodontist serving the community of Beverly Hills, CA. Born in Israel, Dr. Donitza obtained his Bachelor of Science in 1982 and his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1985 from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He served five years as a dentist in the Israeli army, providing prosthetic treatment to army personnel and their families. Following his army service, Dr. Donitza maintained a private practice in Haifa, Israel, and held a position as a clinical instructor in the Department of Fixed Prosthodontics at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 1993, Dr. Donitza joined the Department of Prosthodontics at UCLA, conducting research at the Center for Esthetic Dentistry and completed two years of education in prosthodontics and implant dentistry. At the same time, he took the necessary exams in preparation for the California State Board Dental Exam. He received his California dental license in June 1996. Dr. Donitza pursued further education at UCLA with a three-year residency in Advanced Prosthodontics and received his Prosthodontics certificate in 1999. He then completed an additional one-year residency and received his Maxillo-Facial Prosthodontics certificate in June 2001. Dr. Donitza has maintained his practice in Beverly Hills since 1999, and joined Oral Construx in 2002. He is a member of the Cedar Sinai Tumor Board and participates in the multidisciplinary care of radiation patients and the prosthetic rehabilitation of cancer patients. Dr. Donitza is a part-time Adjunct Professor in Removable Prosthodontics at UCLA and a past president of the Beverly Hills Academy of Dentistry. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Prosthodontists, The Academy of Osseointegration, and The International College of Prosthodontics. Dr. Besser is a Medical and Surgical Ophthalmologist and founding member of Angeles Eye Institute located in Culver City, CA. He specializes in refractive cataract surgery and laser vision correction. He also provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, managing a wide breadth of acute and chronic eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, red/dry eyes, and chalazion removal. Dr. Besser is regarded for his surgical skill and high success rate in the ophthalmology community. He is passionate about maintaining ethical standards in the industry, and for prioritizing patient education and care so that patients feel armed with information and options when it comes to their health.   Education After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Dr. Besser earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, subsequently completing his residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and New York Medical College. Dr. Besser was awarded the title of Chief Resident in Ophthalmology during his senior year.  Teaching Dr. Besser is invested in furthering the quality of eye surgery beyond the walls of his own practice. He serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Jules Stein Eye Institute-UCLA, and he teaches advanced cataract surgery to ophthalmology residents at Harbor UCLA Medical Center. Hes passionate about teaching residents and fellows and helping to equip the next generation of doctors with the skills and best practices they need to be amazing surgeons.  Teaching at an elite research institution also helps to keep Dr. Besser at the forefront of the latest technology, techniques, and science of ophthalmology, helping him to continue to evolve as a surgeon and offer new tech and options to his patients.  Bio Originally born in Mexico City, Dr. Besser moved with his family to the US when he was eight years old. As an undergraduate at UCSB, he realized that volunteer work hed done at the university health clinic had been fulfilling work for him, and that he wanted to pursue a meaningful career where he could connect with and help others. Dr. Besser was immediately drawn to the challenge and intensity of surgery, especially ophthalmology which also required great hand-eye coordination and precision, but still allowed for building strong relationships with patients. Most of all, he was drawn to the impact of ocular surgery: procedures that in ten minutes can give a patient better vision, freedom, and agency. Improved vision can improve cognition, emotional well being, or help older patients maintain their independence.  Beyond surgery, Dr. Besser enjoys providing ongoing care and building lasting relationships with patients experiencing chronic conditions that require regular maintenance and monitoring including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Eye health can be a key indicator of general health, and many systemic diseases can be caught early through careful ophthalmic examinations.  Instrument Design & Technology Dr. Besser is an early adopter of new equipment, lenses, and technology, and is eager to incorporate new and improved procedures and technologies into his skill set if they can benefit his patients. Always on the hunt for new ways to improve patient outcomes, Dr. Besser has developed and patented several industry-leading surgical instruments. These include the Josephberg/Besser Scleral Depressor, which aids in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, and Besser Forceps, used in complex cataract procedures. Dr. Lehman earned her undergraduate degree from Stanford University and her medical degree from UCLA School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and her infectious diseases fellowship at both UCLA and UCSF where she researched maternal fetal transmission of human immunodeficiency virus. Prior to joining the division of pediatric infectious diseases at UCLA, Dr. Lehman was the associate clinical director of pediatric infectious diseases at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the clerkship site director for pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine. Her interest and passion for medical education brought her back to UCLA to assume the role of assistant dean for student affairs, pediatric clerkship chair and associate vice chair of education in the department of pediatrics. In addition to her roles in the medical school, Dr. Lehman along with her therapy dog Hamilton is a volunteer with UCLA's People Animal Connection at Ronald Reagan Medical Center and Mattel Children's Hospital.
