He completed a Pediatric Residency at Georgetown University Hospital and an Infectious Diseases Fellowship at the University of Southern California. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine in Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine and the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians. He is a past member of the Editorial Board of the Annals of Emergency Medicine, and his achievements have been recognized and honored by the American College of Emergency Physicians, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. He has served on the National Council and the Board of Directors of the American College of Emergency Physicians and as President of the California Chapter.
