HVAC Installer The HVAC Installer Program offers a certificate in the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration. Graduates are prepared for entry-level Installer/Apprentice positions, requiring formal education and hands-on experience in the following areas of specialization; i.e. - residential, commercial, industrial. This program offers the training required to meet the hiring needs of HVAC contractors. Duties of the HVAC Installer: include installation and start-up of residential split-system air conditioning equipment, CACs, heat pumps and Puron systems, reading blue prints and specifications, connecting electrical wiring, duct work, and refrigerant lines, brazing/soldering, charging a system with refrigerants and check-out of proper equipment operation. Opportunities for employment in the HVAC field include: Installers, Apprentices, Helpers, Maintenance Technicians and Sheet Metal experts. James H. Lee, MD, FAAP is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. After completing his undergraduate studies at UC Berkeley, he received his medical degree from Michigan State University and completed his pediatrics residency training at UCLA. After residency, Dr. Lee was recruited to stay on as faculty at UCLA. In addition to his clinical responsibilities as a general pediatrician, he has leadership roles in medical education. He serves as the Associate Program Director, Continuity Clinic Director, and Resident Advisor for the Pediatrics Residency Training Program. In regards to the medical students at DGSOM, he is the Director of the Preclinical Student Pediatric Clinical Skills Course, the Pediatrics Clerkship Site Director, and a faculty advisor for the medical students interested in pursuing Pediatrics or Primary Care as a field. Dr. Lee is a faculty sponsor for the Pediatrics Interest Group and works with the group to educate the field of Pediatrics to medical students and to help create mentorship opportunities between motivated students and pediatric residents. Dr. Lee's research interests include medical education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and enhancing the care of our pediatric population with a focus on children with special healthcare needs. His passion for teaching has been recognized by being awarded the prestigious Robert C Neerhout Teaching Award three times at the Assistant Clinical Professor level. Finally, in 2020, he was selected to be one of DGSOM's Educators for Excellence to be involved in the development and teaching of the practice of medicine curriculum to the incoming medical students.
