Red dye or purple dye masks the lining of the colon and can interfere with getting accurate results. Here is a Top Five list of red and purple foods and drinks to avoid before your colonoscopy: Jell-O—Avoid strawberry, raspberry, cherry or black cherry and grape. Popsicles—Avoid any red or purple in a variety pack.

The day before the colonoscopy procedure  Don't eat solid foods. Instead, consume only clear liquids like clear broth or bouillon, black coffee or tea, clear juice (apple, white grape), clear soft drinks or sports drinks, Jell-O, popsicles, etc.

No Solid Foods. Even soft foods like cheese, yogurt, oatmeal or soups with noodles are not permitted. Your physician may require you to avoid nuts, seeds or other insoluble fiber more than one day before your colonoscopy preparation.

Immediately after the colonoscopy, the specialist will tell you if they have removed any tissue samples or polyps. If tissue samples are removed during your colonoscopy, you should receive the results in three weeks. There are three types of results that you could receive.

The patient must drink atleast 2 cups of clear fluid every waking hour. These could include: fruit squash, fizzy drinks or tea and coffee (without milk). Bovril or clear soup (watery without bits in it).

To help prevent blood pressure from dropping sharply after meals, eat small portions several times a day and limit high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. Your physician also might recommend drinking caffeinated coffee or tea with meals to temporarily raise blood pressure.
