    Dr. Arikian is a Los Angeles native who attended UCLA as an undergraduate and received her B.S. degrees in Biology with an emphasis on Ecology, Behavior and Evolution. She attended Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She returned to Southern California to complete her residency at Harbor-UCLA Family Medicine. After residency she did a one-year Chief Residency and Fellowship in Faculty Development. She also completed a special project looking at patient attitudes towards alternative medicine. After training, she took a full-time clinical position at the non-profit Venice Family Clinic, the largest free clinic in the U.S. There she saw primarily uninsured and disadvantaged families, including homeless patients. She eventually became director of the VFC satellite clinic in the Mar Vista Gardens Housing Project, which was later relocated and named the Colen Family Health Center. After 11 years at VFC, she began working at University Health Center in January of 2011. She sees patients of all ages, and enjoys practicing the entire breadth of outpatient family medicine. Her primary goal in treating patients is to give them the tools to stay healthy and prevent complications from chronic disease. Dr. Arikian is married to a neurologist physician and has four young children. She enjoys work, family, travel and the outdoors. On her off days she volunteers at her children's school and practices yoga.
