MOST AFFORDABLE CARS
The sedan or saloon is the most common car body style in the world today. High-end car manufacturers have also been trying to get a share of the market by releasing their own versions of the sedan. Here now is a list of the top 10 most luxurious sedans in the world. Assuming their steep sticker price is no object, luxury sedans offer the most stylish, opulent and amenity-packed driving experience on the road. These premium 4-door vehicles are designed for elegance, quality and comfort, and offer top-of-the-line performance as well. Here’s a list of the 10 Best Luxury Sedans in the world:
- Hyundai Equus: The Hyundai Equus was the Korean brand’s great experiment: can an uber-luxury car compete on its merits alone without having to rely on the badge adorning its front grille? So far, the answer seems to be yes, with the Hyundai Equus enjoying a welcome reception from automotive critics who laud its long list of standard gear, substantial comfort, and generous interior dimensions. Standard power comes from a 5.0-liter V-8 that generates 429 horses and 376 lb-ft of twist, and the rear-wheel drive Equus is shifted via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing for the luxury sedan is perhaps even more shocking than its humble origins, as the vehicle starts at just over $60,000.
- Ford Fiesta: The 2016 Ford Fiesta is a terrific city vehicle with an interior that offers upscale quality for the segment. The driving experience leans toward sporty (including a firmer ride), which separates it from most rivals. The base engine is a reasonably peppy four-cylinder. We’re more intrigued by the punchy and efficient 123-horsepower three-cylinder turbo, though you can only get it with a manual transmission. Whether you opt for the Fiesta sedan or the hatchback, the interior has plenty of small-item storage, visibility is good thanks to slim roof pillars and for 2016, the options list is bolstered by Ford’s latest Sync 3 infotainment system. In sum, the Fiesta is affordable yet fun transportation.
- Jaguar XJ X351: The Jaguar XJ is a full size luxury vehicle from the British automobile giant Jaguar. It first went into production way back in 1968, with its design having the distinction of being the last sedan to include inputs from Sir William Lyons, the company’s founder. It is one of the official vehicles of the Prime Minister and royal family of the United Kingdom. The current version is the X351, a four-door sedan built in Birmingham. Buyers can choose among a three-liter diesel, five-liter V8 and five-liter V8 supercharged engines.
- Mini Cooper: The 2016 Mini Cooper breathes life into the subcompact class with cheeky style, a sporty driving experience and extensive options. Few cars are more fun to drive or own, and with the new four-door model, you no longer have to pass on that fun just because two doors is too few. Although the latest generation’s looks are a little odd at some angles and the cabin is still far from spacious, the added practicality is nevertheless welcome. And despite a price tag that is considerably north of those other subcompacts here, the Mini Cooper hatchback’s overall quality, superior performance and almost endless customization options mean that it’s clearly worth a higher price than those above.
- Audi S8 4.0T Quattro Tiptronic: With 520-horsepower on tap from its 4.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injected V8, this mammoth sedan has the speed to match its size. Refreshed slightly for 2015, the flagship Audi — constructed primarily from aluminum — mates elegance with excess in a high-performance, surprisingly agile sedan.
- Mercedes-Benz S-Class: The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is in some ways the bogey that Hyundai was shooting for with the Equus. More accurately, however, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the moving target that premium automakers the world over have been attempting to match in terms of refinement and prestige for decades. The S-Class portfolio has diversified to include a hybrid model, the option of all-wheel drive, and even two high-performance AMG models. The Mercedes-Benz S600 is also one of the few 12-cylinder sedans still available in this second decade of the 21st century, sporting a 6.0-liter, twin-turbo mill that generates 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque.
- Maybach 62: The Maybach 62 was one of the first models of the Maybach brand since the brand’s purchase by Daimler AG. It is based on the Mercedes Benz S Class sedan and it was first introduced as the Benz Maybach concept car during the Tokyo Motor Show in 1997. As a luxury brand status, it came out ahead of Bentley and Rolls Royce during a 2008 survey. It has a six-liter V12 engine mated with a five-speed automatic transmission system. It is intended to be ridden with a chauffeur. The car has fully reclining rear seats, climate control, infrared-reflecting laminated glass, dual control air suspension, display instruments in the liner of the rear roof, folding rear tables, refrigerator compartment and Bose speaker surround system. It also has two LCD TV screens at the rear, tuners, DVD players and a cockpit and management navigation system.
- Bentley Mulsanne: This powerful and refined grand touring sedan from the British connoisseurs of high class is a buttery-smooth expression of finely engineered, hand-built ultra luxury. While the Mulsanne may look — and feel — fit for an English lord, its 6.75-liter V8 shoots this large sedan from 0 to 60 in just under 5 seconds, revealing a sporting side.
- Ferrari FF: The Ferrari FF is a three-door grand tourer from the Italian car giant Ferrari. FF means Ferrari Four, which stands for the car’s four seats and four-wheel drive. It is the company’s first production four-wheel drive model. The body style has been described as a shooting brake. The car has an FM4 layout and boasts of a 6.3-liter V12 engine with seven-speed dual clutch automated semi-automatic transmission system. It has a top speed of 335 kilometers per hour and can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.7 seconds. It is considered to be the fastest four-seat car in the world.
- Rolls-Royce Ghost: Combining a classic look with modern technology, this stately sedan is an automotive anomaly. With such a tremendous powertrain, the Rolls Royce Ghost demands attention for its iconic styling as much as its performance specs.
