Garraway received her Bachelor of Science degree from Brown University and completed the Medical Scientist (MD-PhD) Training Program at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA with a doctorate in Molecular Biology. Upon completion of the UCLA Urology residency program, she joined the UCLA faculty. She is currently an Associate Professor of Urology and Director of Research, Member of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Member of the Broad Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCLA. Dr. Garraway is a surgeon-scientist and Principal Investigator of a UCLA basic/translational science laboratory that is focused on characterizing human prostate stem and tumor-initiating cells, as well as biological and microenvironmental interactions that influence metastatic progression. She maintains a clinical practice within the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System, where she also conducts clinical research. Dr. Garraway has received the Donald S. Coffey Career Development, Young Investigator, and Challenge Awards from the Prostate Cancer Foundation. She has also received funding from the National Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense, the Jean Perkins Foundation, the STOP Cancer Foundation, and the Margaret E. Early Foundation. Dr. Crawford joined the UCLA orthopaedic department in 2019 as a fellowship trained, board-certified orthopaedic oncologist. She specializes in primary bone and soft tissue sarcomas, metastatic tumors of the musculoskeletal system, benign bone and soft tissue tumors.Prior to her UCLA appointment, Dr. Crawford worked at City of Hope Cancer Center for 3 years after graduating from her orthopaedic oncology fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess and Boston Children's Hospital through Harvard Medical School. Her fellowship is one of the few in the country with a 6-month emphasis on pediatrics sarcomas. Dr. Crawford attending Santa Clara University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude before attending Oregon Health & Science University for medical school. She completed her internship at OHSU before moving to Saint Louis University Hospital for residency and a one-year orthopaedic trauma fellowship. While there she completed a traveling fellowship through Orthopaedics Overseas, operating for 6 weeks at several hospitals throughout Malawi, Africa. Throughout her career, she has continued to publish several peer-reviewed journal articles regarding orthopaedics. Currently, her research is focused on oxygenating osteosarcoma cells to sensitize them to radiation, and working with engineers at Caltech to develop photoacoustic imaging as a clinical modality for bone lesions. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, on the board of directors for the Musculoskeletal Oncology Research Initiative, a reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals, and sits on several committees at UCLA. Dr. Crawford is an avid animal lover and currently houses 3 rescue animals, 2 dogs and a cat. She grew up in a small town where farming is the primary industry and loves to travel home to refresh. She previously played racquetball at a National and World level, winning several championships. She strives to make a personal connection with her patients - providing them not only with the best possible evidence-based medical care but with a patient-physician relationship that is supportive and collaborative.

Akanksha Sharma, MD, is board certified in neurology, neuro-oncology and palliative medicine. She is experienced in the treatment of primary/metastatic brain tumors, neurological complications of cancer, and disease-related burden and symptoms. Her clinical and research interests lie in helping patients maximize their time and quality of life. She aims to align treatment with patient goals and to provide holistic care that includes careful symptom assessment and management, as well as support for the patient's loved ones. Dr. Sharma brings a unique perspective to neuro-oncology care in this area with her clinical experience combining neuro-oncology and palliative care. Her research focuses on understanding and improving quality of life, how we best manage symptoms, the importance of prognostication, and caregiver support. She partners with her patients and their families to develop holistic care plans that take into consideration both mind and body health.
