Kindle e-books are obtained from the Amazon Kindle store. You must use the Kindle app to access that store to purchase your e-books. Some tablets may block access to the Amazon Kindle store. Yeah, that's a cheap shot, but it happens.

Go to the website of your local public library and search for Kindle books / eBooks. At checkout, sign in to your Amazon account, and select the Fire tablet, Kindle e-reader, or supported Kindle reading app to send the book to. Connect your device to Wi-Fi and download the title from the Archived Items or Cloud.

The hoopla digital app is also now compatible with 7" and 8.9" Kindle Fire HDX tablets. You can download the app through the Amazon Appstore on your KindleFire HDX tablet. At this time, hoopla is not available on game consoles, Roku, or Chromecast but please stay tuned for future enhancements.

Download and install the Kindle for PC reading app on your Windows personal computer. If prompted, choose the option to save the file to your computer. Click on the Download button. Once the download completes, follow the onscreen installation instructions.
