Dr. Alasil completed his ophthalmology residency training at Yale University and joined the Retina Institute of California for his retina fellowship. Dr. Alasil was part of the team who innovated en face imaging using swept source optical coherence tomography technology in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His main research interests focus on polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, diabetic retinopathy and diabetic choroidopathy. He has written over 35 original peer-reviewed articles, major reviews,case reports, and book reviews. He has presented his work at national and international meetings including the Association of Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) annual meeting, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology(AAO). He won the best poster award at AAO and the ASCRS excellence in residency award. He was granted a travel grant to present his work on diabetic choroidopathy at Asia ARVO meeting in Yokohama, Japan, and he was invited to speak at the Rabb-Venable excellence in research program. Devaskar, MD is Distinguished Professor of Pediatrics, Mattel Executive Endowed Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is also the Executive Director of the UCLA Children's Discovery and Innovation Institute (CDI). Dr. Devaskar is a highly accomplished pediatrician/neonatologist, researcher and educator. She was selected as the recipient of the 2021 John Howland Award and Medal for Highest Achievements in promoting child health as a leader, physician-scientist, mentor and clinician-educator. Dr. Devaskar's research is renowned for elucidating mechanisms and processes responsible for developmental origins of chronic childhood disorders such as obesity and diabetes with a recent emphasis on the effect of placental health on neurodevelopment. Her research is supported by National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Devaskar has authored over 160 publications in peer-reviewed journals. She served as a member of the National Advisory Child Health and Human Development Council, National Institutes of Health, Chair of the NICHD-Maternal and Child Health Committee and Chair of the NIH-Human and Embryology Study Section. She was also the President of the American Pediatric Society and served on the International Pediatric Research Foundation Board. She is currently the President of the American Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs. Dr. Devaskar was elected to the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in October 2012. Dr. Devaskar has a particular interest in academic development and focuses on supporting and mentoring fellows and junior faculty interested in becoming physician-scientists, clinician-researchers or educators. Dr. Devaskar serves on multiple UCLA, national and international committees. She served as the Chair of the Scientific Program Committee for the Pediatric Academic Societies. Yvonne J. Bryson, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital and is the Director of the Los Angeles Brazil AIDS Consortium. She is a world-renown leader, researcher, virologist and clinician in the field of HIV pathogenesis, prevention and treatment of maternal-fetal and pediatric HIV-1, and is an active member of the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trial Group. She is currently the Chair of the NIH Network IMPAACT (International Maternal Pediatric Adolescent AIDS Clinical Trials) PMTCT Committee (Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV). An invited member on the U.S. Public Health Service Task Force on the Use of Zidovudine to Reduce Perinatal Transmission of Human Immunodeficiency Virus, Dr. Bryson was influential in the development of CDC and Public Health guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of HIV-infected pregnant women and has been involved in the planning and execution of national cooperative studies of maternal-fetal HIV transmission. She has made significant contributions to the development of some of the original studies of the use of Zidovudine for the prevention of perinatal HIV, studies of maternal risk factors for vertical transmission of HIV, as well as advances in the early diagnosis of HIV in newborns. Dr. Bryson has significant experience in leading large multicenter clinical trials and networks and developing clinical sites and laboratories. She is recognized as a national and international expert and leader in the field of HIV and perinatal transmission. She has made important and original scientific contributions to the field and served on many advisory committees and NIH Study Sections, and has been consistently funded by the National Institutes of Health, including numerous RO1 grants. Dr. Bryson has mentored numerous postdoctoral fellows and young faculty for successful careers in academic medicine. She was one of the original members of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation heath advisory board and helped start the foundation with Elizabeth, Dr. Richard Stiehm, and two co-founders. She has made a strong commitment to international studies and to her collaborators in Brazil to help them develop the necessary infrastructure to design, conduct, and implement new approaches to prevent and treat HIV. Dr. Bryson is a strong advocate for mothers and children with HIV. She is also an expert in general pediatrics, herpes infections, and other viral, bacterial, and opportunistic infections.

Dr. Ulrike Ziegner earned degrees from the University of Cologne and the Friedrich Wilhelm University in Bonn, Germany. Dr. Allen M. Chen is a board-certified UCI Health radiation oncologist who specializes in the management of head and neck cancers. He serves as chair of the UCI School of Medicine's Department of Radiation Oncology. Chen received his medical degree from Yale University's School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. He completed an internship in internal medicine at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, followed by residencies in radiation oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and UC San Francisco School of Medicine. Before joining the UCI School of Medicine and UCI Health, he served as residency director for radiation oncology at the UC Davis School of Medicine, vice chair of radiation oncology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, then chair of radiation oncology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City. His research interests also include the role of human papillomavirus (HPV) in head and neck cancers. His 2017 study on de-escalation for HPV-positive cancer, the first to suggest a benefit in reducing radiation doses, is now standard protocol. He also has conducted numerous clinical trials on re-irradiation techniques for recurrent cancers of the head and neck. He serves on leadership committees for the National Cancer Institute, the Radiological Society of North America, the American Board of Radiology, and is a fellow of the American Society for Radiation Oncology.
