HAIR LOSS TREATMENT
Whether you’ve just noticed a thinning hairline or you’re constantly wearing a baseball hat to hide your bald spot, there’s a good chance you’ve tried at least one product to keep your hair. And while there are myriad products designed to fight hair reduction, it can sometimes be hard to tell which methods to trust and which to toss.
Here are the top remedies for hair reduction.
-
Hair Oil Rub – The first step that you can take to reduce hair reduction is to rub your scalp with appropriate hair oil. Proper hair and scalp rub will increase blood flow to the hair follicles, condition the scalp, and enhance the strength of your hair’s roots. It will also promote relaxation and reduce feelings of stress. You can use hair oils like coconut or almond oil, olive oil, castor oil, amla oil, or others. Add a few drops of rosemary essential oil to the base oil for better and faster results. Other types of oil that you can use are emu oil, argan oil, and wheat germ oil.
-
Fenugreek – Fenugreek, also known as methi, is highly effective in treating hair reduction. Fenugreek seeds contain hormone antecedents that enhance hair growth and help rebuild hair follicles. They also contain proteins and nicotinic acid that stimulate hair growth.
-
Soak one cup of fenugreek seeds in water overnight.
-
In the morning, grind them to make a paste.
-
Apply the paste to your hair and cover with a shower cap. After about 40 minutes, rinse your hair.
-
Follow this remedy every morning for a month.
-
Onion Juice – Onion juice helps treat hair reduction due to its high sulfur content, which helps improve blood circulation to the hair follicles, regenerate hair follicles and reduce inflammation. The antibacterial properties in onion juice also help kill germs and parasites, and treat scalp infections that can cause hair reduction.

Aloe Vera – Aloe vera contains enzymes that directly promote healthy hair growth. Also, its alkalizing properties can help bring the scalp and hair’s pH to a more desirable level, which can greatly promote hair growth. Regular use can also relieve scalp itching, reduce scalp redness and inflammation, add strength and luster to hair, and alleviate dandruff. Both aloe vera gel and juice will work.
-
Licorice Root – Licorice root is another herb that prevents hair reduction and further damage to the hair. The mollifying properties of licorice roots open the pores, soothe the scalp and help get rid of irritations like dry flakes. This remedy is good for dandruff, hair reduction and baldness.
-
Add one tablespoon of ground licorice root to one cup milk with a quarter teaspoon saffron. Mix it thoroughly.
-
Apply the paste on bald patches at bedtime and leave it on overnight.
-
In the morning, wash your hair.
-
Follow this remedy once or twice a week.

The permanent route – With a hair transplant, hair is removed from one part of the scalp and then implanted where you’re thinning. Tiny “follicular units” of two to four hairs are transplanted; this can be effective even for women with diffuse thinning and few areas of “donor hair.” In a survey of hair transplant surgeons led by dermatologist Walter Unger, MD, over half said that at least 40 percent of women with female pattern hair reduction are candidates for an operation; many of those physicians believe that up to 80 percent of women with thinning can see successful results. ($3,000 to $15,000, depending on number of grafts and transplant sessions)

Instant and Cheap Gratification – Fullmore ($22) is a tinted spray that temporarily thickens hair with tiny fibers and conceals visible scalp. Hair restoration specialist Lucinda Ellery tells clients to try it before committing to extensions; for many it’s the only fix they need. Pantene AgeDefy Advanced Thickening Treatment ($20) is a styling spray that plumps each hair fiber. In a study published in the British Journal of Dermatology in 2011, it increased the diameter of individual hairs significantly, by about 10 percent.
How to Add Volume to Flat Hair
The key to successful regrowth? First, admit you have a problem. Each day you dwell in denial, you’re losing precious time. The more hair you’ve lost, the less likely it is to all grow back. Telltale signs, like a wider part or a smaller ponytail, don’t show up until you’ve lost nearly half your hair! Seek out trichologists and dermatologists or endocrinologists who specialize in hair problems.
