Dr. William Carroll is an internist who practices both traditional primary care and complex medical care for the UCLA Health Extensivist Program in Westwood. He is board certified in internal medicine, and uses evidence-based methods and a multidisciplinary team approach to improve health outcomes for patients. Dr. Carroll received his medical degree from St. George's University. He completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine at New York's Stony Brook University Hospital, where he went on to complete his chief medical residency. Dr. Zhao was born and raised in China. She knew early on that medicine was her calling. Her passion for medicine started as a young child where she was raised and steeped at an early age in the tradition of Chinese Medicine in her family. She witnessed first hand the passing down generations of special family remedies with both grandfathers developing their own treatments based on traditional eastern medicine. Dr. Zhao went on to attend medical school at Dalian Medical University where she graduated in the Top 5% of her graduating class (Summa Cum Laude), receiving her medical degree in 1994. She then went on to do cancer research in Molecular Biology at the Medical School of Nippon in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Zhao completed her internship and residency at New York University Medical Center in 2004. After her graduation from NYU, she was appointed to the faculty as a Clinical Instructor at New York Presbyterian Hospital Queens Campus, which is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University. There, Dr. Zhao supervised and taught resident physicians and medical students as well as worked in the hospital attending to patients. Throughout her career in medicine, she has worked with a diverse population and has enjoyed learning about different cultures, which is why she has chosen to live and work here in Los Angeles. Today, Dr. Zhao is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine teaching medical students and resident physicians. A Los Angeles native, Andrew Weiss, M.D. graduated from the Harvard School and then left Southern California to attend college and play soccer at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in the Biological Basis of Behavior, Dr. Weiss returned to Los Angeles and taught high school biology and algebra. He subsequently attended medical school at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine where he graduated with honors/Alpha Omega Alpha and then completed an orthopedic surgery residency at UCLA-Harbor Medical Center. During his residency, Dr. Weiss had extensive exposure to general orthopedics and orthopedic trauma. Afterward, he completed a sports medicine fellowship at UCLA Medical Center, where he served as a team physician for the UCLA football, volleyball, and baseball teams. In addition to his background in general orthopedics, orthopedic sports medicine, and orthopedic trauma, Dr. Weiss loves working with children and has developed expertise in treating pediatric orthopedic trauma, including the operative and non-operative management of broken bones and other injuries. He has written many articles on laser surgery and the MRI evaluation of articular cartilage and has lectured extensively on the evaluation and management of sports-related injuries.
