HVAC Installer The HVAC Installer Program offers a certificate in the heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration. Graduates are prepared for entry-level Installer/Apprentice positions, requiring formal education and hands-on experience in the following areas of specialization; i.e. - residential, commercial, industrial. This program offers the training required to meet the hiring needs of HVAC contractors. Duties of the HVAC Installer: include installation and start-up of residential split-system air conditioning equipment, CACs, heat pumps and Puron systems, reading blue prints and specifications, connecting electrical wiring, duct work, and refrigerant lines, brazing/soldering, charging a system with refrigerants and check-out of proper equipment operation. Opportunities for employment in the HVAC field include: Installers, Apprentices, Helpers, Maintenance Technicians and Sheet Metal experts. Computerized Accounting PROGRAM OBJECTIVE: This course is intended to prepare students for a range of bookkeeping, record-keeping, tax-preparation and related positions. Dr. Besser is a Medical and Surgical Ophthalmologist and founding member of Angeles Eye Institute located in Culver City, CA. He specializes in refractive cataract surgery and laser vision correction. He also provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care, managing a wide breadth of acute and chronic eye diseases such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, red/dry eyes, and chalazion removal. Dr. Besser is regarded for his surgical skill and high success rate in the ophthalmology community. He is passionate about maintaining ethical standards in the industry, and for prioritizing patient education and care so that patients feel armed with information and options when it comes to their health.   Education After obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Dr. Besser earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Boston University School of Medicine, subsequently completing his residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and New York Medical College. Dr. Besser was awarded the title of Chief Resident in Ophthalmology during his senior year.  Teaching Dr. Besser is invested in furthering the quality of eye surgery beyond the walls of his own practice. Hes passionate about teaching residents and fellows and helping to equip the next generation of doctors with the skills and best practices they need to be amazing surgeons.  Teaching at an elite research institution also helps to keep Dr. Besser at the forefront of the latest technology, techniques, and science of ophthalmology, helping him to continue to evolve as a surgeon and offer new tech and options to his patients.  Bio Originally born in Mexico City, Dr. Besser moved with his family to the US when he was eight years old. As an undergraduate at UCSB, he realized that volunteer work hed done at the university health clinic had been fulfilling work for him, and that he wanted to pursue a meaningful career where he could connect with and help others. Dr. Besser was immediately drawn to the challenge and intensity of surgery, especially ophthalmology which also required great hand-eye coordination and precision, but still allowed for building strong relationships with patients. Most of all, he was drawn to the impact of ocular surgery: procedures that in ten minutes can give a patient better vision, freedom, and agency. Improved vision can improve cognition, emotional well being, or help older patients maintain their independence.  Beyond surgery, Dr. Besser enjoys providing ongoing care and building lasting relationships with patients experiencing chronic conditions that require regular maintenance and monitoring including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Eye health can be a key indicator of general health, and many systemic diseases can be caught early through careful ophthalmic examinations.  Instrument Design & Technology Dr. Besser is an early adopter of new equipment, lenses, and technology, and is eager to incorporate new and improved procedures and technologies into his skill set if they can benefit his patients. Always on the hunt for new ways to improve patient outcomes, Dr. Besser has developed and patented several industry-leading surgical instruments. Dr. Zhao was born and raised in China. She knew early on that medicine was her calling. Her passion for medicine started as a young child where she was raised and steeped at an early age in the tradition of Chinese Medicine in her family. She witnessed first hand the passing down generations of special family remedies with both grandfathers developing their own treatments based on traditional eastern medicine. Dr. Zhao went on to attend medical school at Dalian Medical University where she graduated in the Top 5% of her graduating class (Summa Cum Laude), receiving her medical degree in 1994. She then went on to do cancer research in Molecular Biology at the Medical School of Nippon in Tokyo, Japan. Dr. Zhao completed her internship and residency at New York University Medical Center in 2004. After her graduation from NYU, she was appointed to the faculty as a Clinical Instructor at New York Presbyterian Hospital Queens Campus, which is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University. There, Dr. Zhao supervised and taught resident physicians and medical students as well as worked in the hospital attending to patients. Throughout her career in medicine, she has worked with a diverse population and has enjoyed learning about different cultures, which is why she has chosen to live and work here in Los Angeles. Today, Dr. Zhao is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine teaching medical students and resident physicians. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is fluent in both Chinese and Japanese.
