Michael Teitell received B.S. and M.S. degrees from the UCLA College Honors Program as a Departmental Scholar in Chemistry and Biochemistry in 1985. He earned combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees in the UCLA Medical Scientist Training Program in 1993. His graduate and early post-doctoral studies were with Dr. Mitchell Kronenberg at UCLA in Molecular and Cellular Immunology. Dr. Teitell was a Resident and Clinical Instructor in Anatomic Pathology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School from 1993-1995. During this time he was a Research Associate with Dr. Richard Blumberg. From 1995-1997, Dr. Teitell was a Resident in Clinical Pathology at UCSF and a post-doctoral researcher with Dr. Joe Gray. From 1997-1999, he held a joint appointment at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles as a Pediatric Pathology Fellow and at UCLA as a Clinical Instructor in Pathology. He became an Assistant Professor in the UCLA Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in 1999. He was jointly appointed in the UCLA Department of Pediatrics in 2001 and was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2004. He currently serves as Chief of the Division of Pediatric and Developmental Pathology, with board certification in anatomic, clinical and pediatric pathology. Dr. Teitell has received several important honors and awards. Among these are the David Paul Kane Scholar Award of the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation (2000-2001), the Lymphoma Research Foundation Junior Faculty Award (2001-2002), the FOCIS/Millenium Pharmaceuticals Young Investigator Award in Genomics Research (2001-2002), a Scholar Award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (2003-2008), election to the American Society of Clinical Investigators (2004) and a Margaret E. Dr. Valerie Wong is a primary care geriatrician and geriatric extensivist physician who practices in Westwood and Santa Monica. She aims to provide personalized medicine to the elderly and specializes in the diagnosis and management of geriatric syndromes, including cognitive disorders, polypharmacy, falls, incontinence, and transitions of care. The extensivist program seeks to help patients with complex medical conditions better manage their care and minimize unnecessary hospitalizations. Dr. Wong is currently working to expand the services provided to include home visits and nursing home care so that extensivist patients can have a doctor familiar with their care in all settings. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Wong is a core faculty member for the UCLA Geriatric Fellowship Program and is serving as the Hospitalist Track Director. She is a clinical instructor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. Wong received her medical degree from Stony Brook School of Medicine in New York, where she was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. She then completed her internal medicine residency at UC Davis, where she completed additional training in quality improvement, medical education and primary care. She finished her training by coming to UCLA for her geriatric medicine fellowship. She earlier earned her bachelor's degree from Brown University with a concentration in Neuroscience. Dr. Wong was born and raised in the Bay Area. When she's not working, she enjoys biking along the beach, tennis, hiking and baking.

Dr. Pfeffer is an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine for the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Prior to serving as AVP and CIO, he was the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for UCLA Health.</p> <p>Dr. Pfeffer graduated from Brown University with a degree in chemical engineering and earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency and chief residency in internal medicine at UCLA. Dr. Pfeffer is board certified in internal medicine and clinical informatics. Dr. Pfeffer is committed to medical student and graduate medical education and serves as the Associate Program Director for the UCLA Clinical Informatics Fellowship Program. UCLA Health was one of the first to implement the ACGME-accredited Clinical Fellowship Program.</p> <p>Dr. Pfeffer lectures worldwide on health information technology and regularly lectures at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
