Founding Director, UCLA Center for Human Nutrition Founding Director, Risk Factor Obesity Program (RFO) Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Public Health, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA Dr. David Heber is internationally prominent in the fields of nutrition, metabolism, obesity and its associated complications. He has published seminal research articles on the causes of obesity, weight loss strategies, and the relationship of obesity to cancer and cardiovascular disease. David Heber is the Founding Director of the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles, a Professor of Medicine and Public Health, the founding Chief of the Division of Clinical Nutrition in the Department of Medicine. He directs the NCI-funded Clinical Nutrition Research Unit and the NIH Nutrition and Obesity Training Grants at UCLA. Dr. Heber is board-certified in Internal Medicine, and Endocrinology and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Clinical Nutrition by the American Board of Nutrition. He earned his MD at Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in Physiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Heber served as a Director of the American Board of Nutrition and past chair of the Education Committee of the American Society of Clinical Nutrition. He is included in the 2000 listing of The Best Doctors in America, based on a survey of over 35,000 doctors throughout the nation, and is listed in Who's Who in America for 2001. Dr. Heber's primary areas of research are obesity treatment and prevention, the role of nutrition, phytochemicals,and botanical dietary supplements in the prevention and treatment of common forms of cancer and cardiovascular disease. About Dr. Fischer Trevan Fischer, MD, specializes in complex general surgical oncology and is certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Fischer is an experienced surgeon who offers patients in Santa Monica, California, the latest surgical techniques, including minimally invasive surgeries, to help in the battle against cancer. His thorough understanding of the nature of cancer allows him to perform complex surgeries that help him diagnose and treat a number of conditions including breast cancer, skin cancers, and soft tissue sarcomas. Outside of his private practice, Dr. Fischer continually strives to stay on top of the latest techniques in treating cancer and hes involved with innovative clinical trials at the John Wayne Cancer Institute in Santa Monica. He also serves as an assistant program director of the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship program at the Institute. Dr. Fischer began his medical career at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, where he earned his medical degree in 2008. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville in 2015, serving as chief resident from 2014-2015. In 2015, Dr. Fischer became a fellow at the John Wayne Cancer Institute where he completed two years of specialized surgical oncology training.  To continue his education, Dr. Fischer is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. Over the course of his career, Dr. Fischers involvement in research and clinical trials has led to numerous articles, papers, and presentations in peer-reviewed publications and at national conferences. Melissa G. Lechner, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Her clinical and research interests are related to endocrine disease resulting from cancer immunotherapy (onco-endocrinology) and advanced thyroid cancer. She established the Onco-Endocrinology clinic at UCLA to care for patients with endocrine side effects from cancer immunotherapy and targeted therapies. She also has expertise in thyroid nodules (including biopsy). Dr. Lechner leads multiple prospective clinical trials at UCLA studying thyroid disease and cancer immunotherapy. She has received funding from the American Thyroid Association, Endocrine Fellows Foundation, and National Institutes of Health for her research and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on the role of the immune system in cancer. She has published articles in Thyroid, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, The Journal of Immunology, Cancer, and Clinical Cancer Research, including original research and invited reviews, and serves on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network of Management of Immunotherapy Toxicity Side Effects guidance panel. After finishing her combined MD and PhD training in the joint USC Keck School of Medicine/Cal Tech physician-scientist training program, Dr. Lechner completed residencies in internal medicine and pediatrics at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital of the Harvard Medical School. In 2018, she joined UCLA as a clinical fellow in endocrinology and post-doctoral researcher in the prestigious Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) program. In 2020, Dr. Lechner joined the faculty at UCLA.

Meet Dr. Movassaghi Mehran Movassaghi, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship trained urologist treating patients in Santa Monica California. He has vast experience with endourology and mens health. Adam Ramin, MD, is board certified in urology, with sub-specialization in Urological Oncology and Robotic Surgery.
