All gaming laptops have both dedicated and integrated graphics, and if laptop is overheating, it's possible that dedicated graphics is the problem. Dedicated graphics uses more power thus creating more heat, and playing a hardware-intensive game, it might cause laptop to overheat.

For serious gamers, regular laptops simply do not cut it in terms of graphics and speed. If it is not used for gaming but want to enjoy some of their quality features, a gaming laptop will work just fine for everyday use. They can be used to draft word documents, listen to music, and surf the internet.

No gaming laptop can be called future proof. Usually a GPU on the laptop is what decides the future playability and most laptop GPU's only last for 3 years from their release to the market. Do not mistake a GPU being sold with a laptop brand as something which might make the laptop as a whole future proof.
